A VERY CLEAN PERSON

The pollution in our cities is increasing day after day. They are a lot of reassons that cause this
damage in the atmosphere, and we have to try to avoid doing things that put in danger our ozone layer.
Personally I am not a very polluting person. My contribution to climate change is 0,76 tonnes, so I can say that I am a very clean person who respects the nature. If we compare my contribution with the polluting average that has a british inhabitant (5 tonnes), we can see that it is a big difference between them.

The transport I use most is the undreground. I don´t drive a car or a motorbike yet, a big advantage that is very helpful for the enviroment.

What can we do to limite the climate change?

My personal contribution to climate change is 1,11 tonnes per year,so it's less damaging than that of British people whose contribution is 5 tonnes. I think we shouldn't waste so much petrol. A solution could be walking or taking public transport instead of using the car. In my case, I haven't got a car so I don't waste a lot of petrol

A new world

Have you ever thought how much carbon dioxide we emitted during a year?
My personal contribution to climate change is 7.05 tonnes which is an enormous quantity if I comparate with the British contribution.
The pollution of the atmosphere is not only a problem of the develop countries; however it is a global problem.
Some countries like China and India which have developed their industries are starting to polute more and more. Maybe in twenty years the world that we know will be covered by water and this is something that nobody wants.
If we want to avoid this problem, every single person should put something of his/her part to improve the situation of the world.
I compromite my self to pollute less using more public transport and using renewable energies.

Have fun!

Could do better

My personal contribution to climate change is 1.35 tonnes which is not a big quantity in comparison with British people whose contribution is 5 tonnes on average. I really worry about this topic and my result was quite good. The action with I contribute most is using the car because everyday I have to go to the university which is in Leioa and my car uses petrol. However I take 4 people with me too.

What's your carbon footprint?

Go to the BBC news page to calculate yours. Then go to Conservation International and see what you can do to improve your negative impact on the planet.

Finally, make a posting about your carbon foot print result and your ideas on what to do about it.

MEDITATE AT SCHOOL

First question - In my opinion all schools should have a moment for meditating every day. This activity would be very helpful for stressed students, and in the exam days, would be useful for relaxing.
Apart from that, it is a moment to have a rest after 2 or 3 hours in class, and you will be able to stay other 2 or 3 hours more in class.

second question -

Time to meditate

First of all I have to say that I have never heared about this method before. However I think that having time to meditate is a good way of dealing with our stress and like this we could study more peacefully and better.
Maybethe Foundation wants to stop all these children from taking drugs, but I am not sure because I don´t know much about it.
I think that his videos are a little bit strange and I don´t like them much.

Meditate at school?

Watch this video which reports on a school where students are given time to mediate.
  • Would you like to be given time to meditate in class? If you would, how do you think it would help you? If you wouldn't, why not?
  • Look at 1 or 2 of the other sections of the David Lynch Foundation web site, what do you think are its aims?
  • What do you know about the film maker David Lynch? If you don't know anything do a search on him. Have you seen any of his films or TV programmes? Did you like them?
Write a comment or a posting answering the questions.

Arrasate-Mondragon,my small city

Arrasate is a small city(I discovered that it was a city some months ago). It has got 25,000 inhabitants, more or less. It´s a industrial city, Eroski and Fagor are from there.

Maybe you ask:why should I visit it?The answered is very simple, it´s a beautiful city surrounded by mountains. It is located in the valley of the Deba river, so whichever way you look you will see mountains.
If you like snow you have other reason to visit it, because in winter every year snows.

The name of Mondragon comes from a legend, it is said that a dragon lived in the mountains and sometimes he went down to the city to catch the most beautiful girl there.

Bilbao

I have lived here since I was a child. Bilbao used to be known as an important industrial city, but nowadays my city has changed a lot. Bilbao is becoming a beautiful city. The factories have been destroyed and at the moment in place of the old factories there are great buildings such as the Guggenheim Museum, the Euskalduna Palace, the Sheraton Hotel, the Isosaki's Towers... The Abandoibarra's new area, where the Iberdrola Tower, offices and flats are being constructed, is going to be finished in two years. This area will join the Guggenheim Museum and the Euskalduna Palace. The Miribilla's area will also be finished. Construction of the Zorrozaurre's new island is going to begin in few years, an impressive restructuring of this area of Bilbao.
Bilbao has developed very much in what to public transport it refers. We have enjoyed the comfort of the underground and the tram. Apart from these two public transport we also have buses.
In Bilbao you have some interesting places to visit. Apart from the museums, you can also visit the old town (The Seven Streets). There you can see the cathedral, the “Plaza Nueva”, the Town Hall and the Arriaga Theatre. You can also visit San Mamés the oldest stadium in Spain and the cathedral of Spanish Football. In summer we have a pop/rock festival and the Aste Nagusia.
I think that Bilbao is lucky not to be a very big city, yet to have all the advantages of a big city. I want to live here all my life.

Bilbao, a new city

Bilbao is the city in which I was born. It's in the north of Spain, near France and it's also the largest city in the Basque Country and the capital of the province of Vizcaya.

Since it was founded, it has changed a lot. Before, it was an industrial city but in the 90's it became a tourist resort because of the Guggenheim museum(1997), which is the symbol of Bilbao around the world.

Bilbao has the advantage that you can combine the beach (the Atlantic Ocean) and the mountains (Gorbea, Urkiola...) because it's not far away from them.

As a consecuence of the development of the city, Bilbao has an airport called Sondika, so if you want to visit Bilbao, you can perfectly arrive by plane.

In my opinion, Bilbao is an interesting place to visit for a few days. Firstly, you can go to the old part of the city to visit the Arriaga theatre and the "siete calles" and also take something to drink in the various bars. Secondly, you can walk across the Gran Via, the biggest avenue, to see well-known shops as Zara, Armani, Quiksilver... but you also can choose to take the trainway to go to the Guggenheim museum. Furthermore, if you walk a little bit more, you arrive to the Euskalduna Palace and to the biggest park of the city near the Nervion river. Another important place is San Mames, the city's football team stadium. This team, the Athletic was founded in 1898 by some english people who come there to make trade. It's one of the best teams in Spain but at the moment the results are not as good as we wish.
I propose to visit Bilbao in summer (July-August) because of the weather. There's always a good temperature, aproximately 20ºC, which is perfect to go surfing to Mundaka, Sopelana... In addition, for music fans there's a music festival called "Bilbao live" and in August there are Bilbao's party, the "Aste Nagusia".

BILBAO,BECOMING A GREAT CITY

Bilbao has been my home town since I was born. My parents are from villages in the country, but also near Bilbao. They bought our house when they married 17 years ago and since that year they have not changed it. We live next to the town hall of the city and I think that this place is a very beautiful and privileged area. The estuary called Nervion is situated in front of our building and this goes across the city.

Bilbao has plenty of gardens and green areas. The biggest one is situated near Begoña and is called Etxebarria park. In the middle of it there is a big tower that reminds an old factory that was there.
Apart from this park, you will find a lot of gardens wherever you go.

The biggest attraction that Bilbao has it is probably the Guggenheim museum.
Itis built of steel and white stone and people says that it has the form of a big boat.

the area around the museum is very privileged, near the estuary and with beautiful gardens around it. We can not forget about Puppy, the giant dog made of colorful flowers that are changed depending the seasons of the year.

Apart from that, you can enjoy other museums too, like the Basque museum or the Fine Arts Museum.

Do you like going shopping and eating well? In that case you should visit the Old Part and the Gran Via (the great avenue) of the city. You will find all kind of shops and brilliant restaurants with good food.
Bilbao is famous too because of his eleven bridges. You can find old ones, like the Town Hall´s bridge or Deusto bridge; and the most innovative bridges, like Zubizuri bridge or Pedro Arrupe bridge.

If you are a football supporter, you should visit San Mamés stadium. It is the stadium of Athletic Club, a historic team in the spanish first division. Here you can visit the museum with all Athletic´s cups and old equipment of the mythical players of this team.

Although football is the king of the sports, Bilbao has a good basketball team called iurbentia Bilbao Basket. It plays in the ACB, the first league in the spanish basketball league.

This is a description of my home town. I hope you like it and that you know a bit more about this interesting city.

Bilbao, the new cosmopolitan city

My city, Bilbao, has changed a lot. Where there was industry, now we have modern spectacular and expensive buildings that have made Bilbao well-known in the whole world. In fact, it´s well known that only one thing(in our case the Guggenheim museum) can put a city in the map. However, in my opinion the most important part of any city is its soul, i mean, what is special in it. For example, in Bilbao, apart from visiting The Guggenheim museum, Fine arts museum or Euskalduna palace, you can enjoy the old part of the city, the essence, where you can go to have a drink of wine or as we say "potear" and eat delicious "pintxos". Besides, Bilbao is a really clean city with a lot of services like transport (underground is a good way to travel). I would recommend to visit the townhall because it´s a typical place where tourists don´t go, but it is a beautiful building.

Likewise, the people are as dynamic as the city is and very proud of themselves. One of the best things we have here is our football team, although Athletic de Bilbao is not getting good results. Moreover, there is an important theatre in Bilbao called Arriaga Theatre by the same architect who designed the town hall. Not only we have the beach near to the city but also it´s surrounded by a lot of mountains, so we can say that Bilbao is a city for every types of people.

In summery, Bilbao is a city which has lived a miracle thanks to its economic progress. Visting this city is a good way to have a good time.

Leicester

It's a long time since I have lived in Leicester, I moved away when I was seventeen. Then I thought it a very boring place, not particularly big or small, just boring. However, now I think differently. There is a great cultural mix in the city with many people second, third and fourth generation immigrants.

You can eat the best Indian food anywhere in Leicester. There are shops where you can buy material for saris, ingredients for Jamaican dishes and whole streets where Kenyan jewellers display their wares.

The university is also an important place where students and teachers are engaged in research about space.

And if you are in search of history, you will find some of the most important Roman remains in the whole of Europe.

SEX PISTOLS-God saves the queen

i have chosen this brilliant song because I love sex pistols and I think it is the most popular and the best punk group that englad have got.

Here are the lyrics

Hold on

This world, this world is cold.
But you don\'t, you don\'t have to go.
You\'re feeling sad, you\'re feeling lonely
And no one seems to care.
Your mother\'s gone, your father hates you, this pain cannot bare.
But we all bleed the same way as you do.
And we all have the same things to go through.

Hold on... if you feel like letting go.
Hold on... it gets better than you know.

Your days you say they're way too long
And your nights you can't sleep at all
And you're not sure waht you're looking for
But you don't want to no more
And you're not sure what you're waitting for
But you don't want to no more

But we all bleed the same was you do
And we all have the same things to go through

Hold on... if you feel like letting go
Hold on... it gets better than you know

Don't stop looking you're one step closer
Don't stop searching it's not over...

Hold on

What are you looking for?
what are you waiting for?
Do you now what you're doing me?
Go ahead... what are you waiting for?

Hold on... if you feel like letting go
Hold on... it gets better than you know

Don't stop looking you're one step closer
Don't stop searching it's not over... hold on
