BILBAO,BECOMING A GREAT CITY

Bilbao has been my home town since I was born. My parents are from villages in the country, but also near Bilbao. They bought our house when they married 17 years ago and since that year they have not changed it. We live next to the town hall of the city and I think that this place is a very beautiful and privileged area. The estuary called Nervion is situated in front of our building and this goes across the city.

Bilbao has plenty of gardens and green areas. The biggest one is situated near Begoña and is called Etxebarria park. In the middle of it there is a big tower that reminds an old factory that was there.
Apart from this park, you will find a lot of gardens wherever you go.

The biggest attraction that Bilbao has it is probably the Guggenheim museum.
Itis built of steel and white stone and people says that it has the form of a big boat.

the area around the museum is very privileged, near the estuary and with beautiful gardens around it. We can not forget about Puppy, the giant dog made of colorful flowers that are changed depending the seasons of the year.

Apart from that, you can enjoy other museums too, like the Basque museum or the Fine Arts Museum.

Do you like going shopping and eating well? In that case you should visit the Old Part and the Gran Via (the great avenue) of the city. You will find all kind of shops and brilliant restaurants with good food.
Bilbao is famous too because of his eleven bridges. You can find old ones, like the Town Hall´s bridge or Deusto bridge; and the most innovative bridges, like Zubizuri bridge or Pedro Arrupe bridge.

If you are a football supporter, you should visit San Mamés stadium. It is the stadium of Athletic Club, a historic team in the spanish first division. Here you can visit the museum with all Athletic´s cups and old equipment of the mythical players of this team.

Although football is the king of the sports, Bilbao has a good basketball team called iurbentia Bilbao Basket. It plays in the ACB, the first league in the spanish basketball league.

This is a description of my home town. I hope you like it and that you know a bit more about this interesting city.
